Šnipiškės is a district located on the north bank of the Neris River. It is characterized by a contrasting streetscape where modern high-rise office buildings of the central business area stand alongside traditional old wooden houses. Travelers visit this area to observe this architectural juxtaposition and the remaining examples of historic residential wooden architecture in Vilnius.

The district is located just across the river from the city center. It is accessible via a short walk across the bridge or by local public transport. From the central core, the trip typically takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

A walk through the neighborhood to view the wooden houses and the surrounding skyline generally requires 1 to 2 hours.
When to Visit
The area is suitable for visiting during daylight hours for better visibility of the architecture. It does not typically experience the same level of tourist crowding as the Old Town. Visitors should be mindful that some areas consist of private residences.
