Komitas Museum
Overview
Located next to Komitas Park in Yerevan's Shengavit district, this institution is dedicated to the life and work of Armenian musicologist and composer Komitas. Opened in 2015, the purpose-built space houses permanent exhibition halls containing archival manuscripts, personal items, photographs, and historical documents detailing his collection and transcription of traditional Armenian folk music.
Getting There
From central Yerevan, the venue is situated roughly 3 to 4 kilometres south. A taxi from Republic Square typically takes 10 to 15 minutes depending on traffic. Alternatively, you can take the Yerevan Metro to Sasuntsi David station, followed by a short walk or taxi connection.
Visiting Time
Allow approximately 1 to 1.5 hours to walk through the exhibition galleries, read the biographical panels, and listen to the archival music recordings.
When to Go
The galleries do not typically experience heavy overcrowding, making visits comfortable throughout the day. Mornings tend to be the quietest. Spring and autumn offer pleasant temperatures for walking around the adjacent park grounds before or after your visit.
