豊國神社
Hōkoku Shrine
豊國神社 は、大阪市中央区にある神社。大阪城二の丸南側に鎮座する。旧社格は府社。京都・豊国神社が訓読み（とよくに）で、豊臣秀吉のみを主祭神とするのに対して、当社は音読み（ほうこく）で、豊臣秀頼、豊臣秀長も配祀する。
What it is
Hōkoku Shrine is a Shinto shrine inside Osaka Castle Park, dedicated to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the warlord and unifier who built Osaka Castle in the 16th century. It's one of several Toyokuni shrines around Japan honoring him. The shrine grounds are modest in size, with a torii gate, main hall, and a bronze statue of Hideyoshi, and it draws far fewer visitors than the castle itself, making it a quieter stop within the park.
Getting there
From central Osaka, the shrine sits within Osaka Castle Park, reachable on foot from Osakajokoen Station or Tanimachi 4-chome Station on the subway. From Osaka Station or the Umeda area, expect around 20-30 minutes total by train and on foot.
Time to allow
A visit to the shrine itself takes about 15-20 minutes, enough to see the main structures and statue without lingering.
When to go
Since it's a small stop rather than a destination in itself, it's best visited on the way to or from Osaka Castle rather than as a separate trip. The surrounding park can get crowded during cherry blossom season and on weekends, but the shrine grounds themselves tend to stay calmer than the main castle areas.
