Yuki Museum of Art
湯木美術館（ゆきびじゅつかん）は、大阪府大阪市にある大阪府の登録博物館。主に湯木貞一の収集品を収蔵展示、運営は公益財団法人湯木美術館。
What it is
The Yuki Museum of Art displays the private collection of Yuki Teiichi, the founder of the famed kaiseki restaurant Kitchō. Opened in 1987 in Chūō-ku, the museum focuses on tea ceremony utensils and related craft objects — ceramics, lacquerware, calligraphy and paintings — assembled by a restaurateur with a deep interest in the aesthetics of Japanese cuisine and tea culture. The holdings include twelve pieces designated Important Cultural Properties and three Important Art Objects, so it's a good stop for anyone interested in tea ceremony, ceramics, or the visual culture surrounding kaiseki dining, rather than a general art museum.
Getting there
The museum sits in central Osaka, within walking distance of the Nakanoshima/Higobashi area. From central Osaka (e.g. Umeda or Namba), expect roughly 15-25 minutes by subway plus a short walk. Travellers arriving via Kansai International Airport (KIX) can reach central Osaka by train in about an hour, then transfer to the subway.
How much time to allow
The collection is compact, so an hour to 90 minutes is usually enough to see the galleries at a comfortable pace.
When to go
As a small specialist museum, it doesn't tend to draw large crowds, so there's little need to plan around peak times. Because the focus is tea utensils and works on paper, displays are sometimes rotated, so what's on view can vary between visits.
