Trajan's Forum
トラヤヌスのフォルム 、あるいはフォロ・ディ・トライアーノ は、古代ローマ時代のローマに築かれた皇帝たちのフォルムのうち、最後に建設されたフォルムである。トラヤヌス帝のダキア戦争での勝利を記念して作られた。
What it is
Trajan's Forum was the last and largest of the imperial fora built in ancient Rome, commissioned under Emperor Trajan and designed by the architect Apollodorus of Damascus. Today it survives as an excavated complex of column bases, paved walkways, and fragments of colonnades set below the modern street level, giving a sense of the scale of the original public square, markets, and libraries. Most visitors come to walk around the perimeter and look down into the ruins rather than enter a single building.
Getting there
The forum sits right in the historic centre, on Via dei Fori Imperiali, within easy walking distance of Piazza Venezia and the Colosseum area. From most points in central Rome it's a 10-20 minute walk; several bus lines run along Via dei Fori Imperiali if you'd rather not walk.
How long to spend
Since much of the site is viewed from street level along the fenced walkway, 20-40 minutes is usually enough. Allow more time if you plan to visit any part of the fora that offers closer access.
When to go
Via dei Fori Imperiali gets busy with tour groups and traffic noise during the day, especially in summer. Early morning or early evening tends to be quieter and more comfortable for walking the length of the site, and the area is exposed with little shade.

- Imperial Fora (0.1km) - the wider complex of forums that Trajan's Forum belongs to, worth walking together as one continuous stretch.
- Trajan's Column (0.1km) - the carved commemorative column standing at the edge of the forum.
- Altare della Patria (0.2km) - a short walk away, useful as a landmark and viewpoint over the area.
- Piazza Venezia (0.3km) - a natural start or end point for a walk through this part of central Rome.
