Singapore Flyer
シンガポール・フライヤー は、シンガポールのマリーナエリアにあるアジア最大の観覧車。2008年3月1日に開業した。高さ165m、使用された鋼材は1,800t、総工費はS$2億4,000万。完成当初は世界最大の観覧車であったが、2014年にアメリカ・ラスベガスにオープンしたハイ・ローラーに世界一の座を明け渡した。
What it is
The Singapore Flyer is a giant observation wheel in the Downtown Core, with 28 enclosed, air-conditioned capsules that each hold up to 28 passengers. A full rotation takes you well above the surrounding skyline, giving views across the Marina Bay area, the city centre, and out toward the harbour. It's a straightforward sightseeing ride rather than a thrill attraction — the capsules move slowly and there are no sudden drops or stops.
Getting there
It sits at the edge of Marina Bay, an easy walk from the Marina Bay/Downtown Core area — around 15-20 minutes on foot from Marina Bay Sands or the Esplanade. By taxi or ride-hailing from the city centre, expect roughly 10-15 minutes depending on traffic. The nearest MRT stations are Promenade and Bayfront, both a short walk away.
How much time to allow
The ride itself takes around half an hour. With time for the terminal building, queuing, and photos, budget about an hour in total.
When to go
Late afternoon into early evening is worth considering, since it lets you see the skyline in daylight and then lit up after dark. Weekends and evenings tend to draw larger crowds and longer queues, so a weekday or earlier time slot is likely to be quieter. Clear weather makes a real difference to the views, so an overcast or rainy day is worth avoiding if possible.

- The Helix Bridge (0.3km) — a short walk away, easy to pair before or after the ride.
- ArtScience Museum (0.6km) — a lotus-shaped building with rotating exhibitions, about 10 minutes on foot.
