Banteay Kdei

Banteay Kdei is a Buddhist temple located within the Angkor complex, southeast of Ta Prohm and east of Angkor Thom. Built between the mid-12th and early 13th centuries under the reign of Jayavarman VII, the site consists of double enclosure walls and towers integrated into galleries. Visitors go here to see the architectural transition of the Khmer Empire and the layout of a monastic complex.

Getting There

The temple is located outside the main city center of Siem Reap. Most travelers reach the site via tuk-tuk or hired vehicle from the city. The journey typically takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic and the specific starting point.

Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to walk through the galleries and explore the enclosure walls.

The site is generally less crowded than the main temples like Angkor Wat, though it sees more visitors during the peak dry season. Visiting in the early morning or late afternoon helps avoid the midday heat.
