Srah Srang

Srah Srang is an ancient royal reservoir located within the Angkor archaeological park. It consists of a large rectangular body of water surrounded by a stone promenade and a western bank featuring a series of carved stone pavilions. Travelers visit this site to see the scale of the ancient Khmer water management systems and the remaining architectural structures along the water's edge.

Getting There

The reservoir is located outside the main city center of Siem Reap. Most visitors reach the site via tuk-tuk or private vehicle from the city. The journey typically takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic and the specific starting point in town.

Time Allocation

A visit to the reservoir generally requires 30 to 60 minutes. This allows enough time to walk along the perimeter and view the pavilions on the western side.

When to Visit

The site is often visited in the late afternoon to avoid the midday heat. During the peak tourist season, the area can become crowded, particularly as visitors gather for sunset. The dry season is the most accessible time for visiting the park's outdoor monuments.
