Pre Rup

Pre Rup is a 10th-century Hindu temple located within the Angkor Archaeological Park. It served as the state temple of the Khmer Empire and is characterized by its architectural blend of brick, laterite, and sandstone. Visitors go here to observe the temple's tiered structure and the remaining carvings on its towers.

Getting There

The temple is located outside the main city center of Siem Reap. Most travelers reach the site via tuk-tuk or hired car from the city. The journey typically takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic and the specific starting point.

Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to explore the temple grounds and climb the central sanctuary.

When to Visit

Late afternoon is a common time to visit due to the orientation of the temple. The site can get crowded during peak tourist seasons and around sunset. To avoid the strongest heat, early morning is an alternative, though the light is different.
