Presidential Palace of Turkmenistan
About the Site
The Presidential Palace of Turkmenistan serves as the official residence and workplace of the country's president. Completed in 2011 on Independence Square, it was constructed to replace the nearby former Oguzkhan Palace. Travellers visit primarily to observe its white marble facade and monumental architecture from the exterior, as it represents the administrative center of Ashgabat.
Getting There
The palace is situated in central Ashgabat. A taxi or municipal bus from the city centre takes approximately 5 to 15 minutes. Travellers arriving via Ashgabat International Airport (ASB) can reach the area in about 20 to 30 minutes by road.
Time to Allow
Allow 20 to 45 minutes to view the building and its exterior grounds from public viewpoints.
When to Go
Spring and autumn are the most practical seasons for walking around the city, avoiding the extreme heat of midsummer. Early morning or late afternoon provides comfortable conditions and softer lighting. The surrounding public plazas do not usually experience dense tourist crowds, though security protocols around government buildings are strictly maintained.
