Pandawa Beach
Pandawa Beach is located at Badung – South Kuta tourist region and one of the many beaches in Bali. In the past, this beach is well known to be one of the regions secret beaches because of the location behind a mountainous area that secluded its location to the unknown. Pandawa beach is surrounded by two cliffs with one of them, carved into the cliff face the statues of the Pandavas and the Kunti goddess. The six statues from top to bottom are Kunti, Yudhishthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula, and Sahadeva.
Pandawa Beach
Pandawa is a wide stretch of white sand on Bali's Bukit Peninsula, hemmed in by two limestone cliffs. Access is cut directly through the rock, and one cliff face is carved with six large statues of the Pandava brothers and their mother Kunti, figures from the Mahabharata — worth pausing to look at on the way down. The bay itself has calmer water than many Bukit beaches, which makes it a reasonable spot for swimming rather than just photos, and seaweed farming is still visible along parts of the shore.
Getting there
Pandawa Beach sits on the southern Bukit Peninsula, roughly 40–60 minutes by car or scooter from central Kuta or Denpasar depending on traffic, and about the same from Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS). The final approach runs through the carved cliff passage, which is part of the experience but narrows to one lane at points, so it can back up when busy.
Time to allow
An hour or two covers the beach and cliff carvings; a half day works better if you plan to swim, eat at one of the beachfront warungs, or just relax on the sand.
When to go
Mornings are quieter and cooler for the walk down; by midday and on weekends the beach draws large crowds, including tour groups, and parking can fill up. Afternoon light also tends to be harsher for photos of the statues. Like most of the Bukit, it's more manageable outside Indonesian public holidays.
Combine it with
- Garuda Wisnu Kencana (4.4km) – closest stop, easily paired on the same trip.
- Museum Pasifika (7km) – a low-key indoor option if you want a break from the sun.
- Benoa Bay (9.9km) – water sports and boat trips.
- Padang Padang Beach (10.1km) – another Bukit beach, smaller and more scenic than swim-focused.
