Fløyen

Fløyen is one of the seven mountains surrounding Bergen. Visitors go there to see the city and the surrounding fjords from an elevation of 400 meters above sea level. The area features walking trails and lookout points.

Getting There

The summit is accessible from the city centre via a funicular. The ride is short, taking only a few minutes to reach the top. Alternatively, there are hiking paths for those who prefer to walk up the mountain.

Time Allocation

Allow two to four hours depending on your activity. This provides enough time for the trip up and down, as well as walking along the plateau and visiting the viewing platforms.

When to Visit

The mountain is accessible year-round, though the landscape changes from green forests in summer to snow in winter. It gets crowded during the peak summer tourist season. Visiting early in the morning or late in the evening can help avoid the largest crowds.

Because the funicular station is located near the heart of the city, you can easily combine a trip here with other local landmarks. Within a short distance, you can visit:
