Għajn Tuffieħa
Għajn Tuffieħa
Għajn Tuffieħa is a red-sand beach located in the northwest of Malta. Travelers visit this location for its natural coastline and a quieter environment compared to the adjacent Golden Bay. Access to the shore requires descending approximately 200 steep steps.
Getting There
To reach the beach from the center of Birkirkara, you can use a rental car or a local bus. The journey typically takes around 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the parking area, be prepared for the walk down to the water.
Time Allocation
Allow at least 3 to 4 hours for a visit. This accounts for the time needed to descend and ascend the steep steps, as well as time spent on the beach.
When to Visit
The beach is most accessible during the spring and autumn months when temperatures are moderate. It becomes crowded during the summer peak season. Visiting in the early morning or late afternoon can help avoid the midday heat and the largest crowds.
