What It Is
Mount Taylor is an 856-meter hill south of central Canberra, forming part of Canberra Nature Park. A designated trail leads to the summit, making it a functional destination for hiking, exercise, and viewing the surrounding region.
Getting There
From central Canberra, driving to the base takes 15 to 20 minutes. Public buses run from the city centre to nearby residential stops in Pearce or Kambah in about 35 to 45 minutes.
Time to Allow
Allow 1.5 to 2 hours total. The hike to the summit and back typically takes 60 to 90 minutes, with extra time to pause at the top.
When to Visit
Early morning or late afternoon provides cooler conditions, especially in summer. The trail is heavily used by local residents and can become crowded on weekend mornings.
