Mount Wanniassa

Mount Wanniassa is a peak located in southern Canberra, surrounded by a nature reserve. Visitors go here to hike the trails on the eastern and western sides of the mountain to reach the summit, which provides views over the Woden and Tuggeranong districts.

Getting There

The mountain is located south of the Canberra city centre. Access is primarily by car, taking approximately 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic. The nearest airport is Canberra International Airport (CBR.

Duration of Visit

Depending on the chosen trail and hiking pace, visitors should allow between 2 and 4 hours to ascend to the summit and return.

When to Visit

The site is best visited during the spring and autumn months to avoid the extreme heat of summer and the cold of winter. Early morning or late afternoon visits are recommended for better visibility and cooler temperatures. The trails generally do not experience heavy crowding compared to central city attractions.
