Quriqucha Lake

Quriqucha is a high-altitude lake located west of the village of Taray, sitting at an elevation of 4,020 meters. Travelers visit this site primarily for high-altitude trekking and to experience the natural landscape of the Andean highlands near Cusco.

Getting There

The lake is located west of Taray. From Cusco city centre, visitors typically travel by vehicle toward the Sacred Valley region. The journey takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic and road conditions.

Duration of Visit

Depending on the trekking route chosen, visitors should allow between 3 to 6 hours. This includes time for the hike to the lake and the return trip.

When to Visit

Due to the elevation of 4,020 meters, it is advisable to visit after spending a few days in Cusco to acclimate to the altitude. The dry season (May to October) provides the most stable weather for trekking. Mornings are generally preferred to avoid afternoon rains common in the region.
