Overview

Torre Nueva is a historic coastal watchtower located along the shoreline near Gibraltar and La Línea de la Concepción. Built during the reign of King Philip III as part of a beacon defense system, the stone structure guarded against maritime threats. Travelers visit to examine the surviving historical architecture and coastal defense remains.

Getting There

From central Gibraltar or Gibraltar Airport (GIB), the site is reached by traveling north along the coast into Spain. Driving or taking a taxi takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes depending on border traffic, while walking takes about an hour.

Time to Spend

Plan to spend 30 to 45 minutes on site, which is ample time to walk around the exterior of the structure and view the coastline.

When to Go

Visit during daylight hours, preferably in the morning or late afternoon to avoid strong sun. As an outdoor landmark, it rarely gets crowded.
