Giza Plateau

The Giza Plateau is a limestone plateau located in Giza, Egypt. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that contains several ancient Egyptian monuments, most notably the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, as well as the Great Sphinx. Travelers visit this site to view these architectural structures and explore the surrounding archaeological grounds.

Getting There

The plateau is accessible from Cairo city centre via taxi or ride-sharing services. Depending on traffic conditions, the journey typically takes between 45 minutes to 1.5 hours.

Duration of Visit

Visitors should allow approximately half a day to a full day to walk between the different monuments and explore the site on foot or by camel.

When to Visit

Early morning is recommended to avoid the peak midday heat and the largest crowds. The site gets crowded, particularly during the peak winter tourist season. Avoid visiting during the height of summer when temperatures are extreme.
