The Pyramid of Khafre

Located on the Giza Plateau in Egypt, this monument is the second largest of the Giza pyramids. It was built as the tomb for Pharaoh Khafre. Travelers visit this site to observe the ancient limestone casing that still remains at the pyramid's peak and to study the scale of Old Kingdom funerary architecture.

Getting There

The site is located on the outskirts of Cairo. From the city center, visitors typically travel by taxi or ride-sharing service. The journey generally takes between 45 minutes to 1.5 hours, depending on Cairo's traffic conditions.

When to Visit

Early morning is recommended to avoid the midday heat and the largest crowds. The site becomes very crowded during peak tourist seasons, particularly in winter. Avoid visiting during the peak afternoon sun due to the lack of shade on the plateau.
