Overview

Göteborgsoperan is an opera house located along the waterfront in the Lilla Bommen harbor district of Gothenburg. Travelers visit to attend live opera, ballet, and musical productions or to view the contemporary architecture along the riverfront.

Getting There

From Gothenburg Central Station or Brunnsparken in the city centre, the venue is accessible on foot in about 10 to 15 minutes. Public trams, buses, and harbor ferries also serve the Lilla Bommen stop adjacent to the building.

How Much Time to Allow

If attending a performance, allow approximately 2.5 to 3.5 hours, including intermissions. For viewing the exterior and walking the harbor promenade, 20 to 30 minutes is enough.

When to Go

Main performance seasons run from autumn through spring. The foyer and surrounding waterfront area get crowded directly before and after scheduled showtimes. Daylight hours outside performance schedules are generally quiet.
