Maritiman
Maritiman
Maritiman is a maritime museum located at Packhuskajen on the Göta River. It consists of several historic ships and submarines docked together, allowing visitors to walk through the interiors of these vessels to learn about naval history and maritime technology.
Getting There
The museum is located near the city centre of Gothenburg. It is accessible via a short tram ride or a 10 to 15-minute walk from the central shopping and transit districts.
Duration of Visit
Depending on how many ships you choose to board and the depth of your interest in the exhibits, allow between 2 and 4 hours to explore the site.
When to Visit
The museum is outdoors, so weather conditions affect the experience. Visiting during the summer months provides the most comfortable access to the decks. Like most major city attractions, it can get crowded during weekends and school holiday periods; visiting on a weekday morning typically avoids the largest crowds.
Nearby Attractions
Because of its location on the waterfront, you can easily combine this visit with other nearby sites:
- HSwMS Sölve and HSwMS Småland: Located within 0.1km, these are part of the immediate maritime complex.
- Kronhuset: A historic building located 0.2km away.
- Göteborgsoperan: The Gothenburg Opera house, situated 0.4km from the museum.
