Umm as Sabaan

Umm as Sabaan is a small, uninhabited island located in the Persian Gulf off the northwest Bahrain. Visitors go here to experience a quiet environment with unobstructed views of the sea, away from the urban development of the mainland.

Getting There

The island is located near Isa Town and the capital, Manama. Access typically requires a boat from the coast, as it is separated from the main island. From the city centre, the drive to the departure point takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic.

Duration of Visit

Because of its small size and lack of commercial infrastructure, most visitors spend between 2 and 4 hours on the island. This allows enough time to walk the perimeter and observe the coastline.

When to Visit

The best time to visit is during the cooler months from November to March to avoid the extreme heat of the Gulf summer. Early morning or late afternoon is recommended for milder temperatures. The location does not typically experience heavy crowds due to its remote nature.

Nearby Attractions

You can combine a trip to this island with other sites in the northwest region:

  • Barbar Temple (5.6km)
  • Salman City (5.7km)
  • Nurana Islands (8.5km)
  • Qal’at al Bahrain (9.2km)
