The Great Palace of Constantinople

This site marks the location of the primary residence of the Byzantine emperors for over 800 years. The area is outdoors, making it most accessible during the spring and autumn months to avoid extreme heat or rain. Like most sites in the Sultanahmet district, it can get crowded during peak tourist seasons. Visiting in the early morning helps avoid the largest crowds.
