Opened in 2018, the New Jinja Bridge is a cable-stayed structure spanning the Victoria Nile in Jinja, Uganda. Travelers visit primarily to observe its civil engineering and to see close-up views of the river near its point of origin.

Getting There

The bridge is situated just west of downtown Jinja. From the city centre, a drive by car, taxi, or local boda-boda takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes. For international visitors, travel typically begins at Entebbe International Airport (EBB), followed by road transport to Jinja.

Recommended Duration

Plan to spend between 20 and 45 minutes at the site. This allows enough time to view the structure from accessible vantage points along the riverbank and observe the water below.

When to Visit

Late afternoon or early morning provides comfortable temperatures and clear daylight for viewing the surrounding waters. Midday visits can be hot under direct sun. Because this is a major regional transport corridor, expect steady commercial and passenger vehicle traffic throughout the day, particularly during morning and evening rush hours.
