Overview

Built in 1929, the Petras Vileišis Bridge spans the Neris River, connecting Kaunas's Old Town with the Vilijampolė district. It serves as the final bridge crossing the Neris before it reaches its mouth. Travellers visit to walk along the pedestrian paths and take in views of the riverside landscape and the nearby historic quarter.

Getting There

The bridge is located at the northern edge of the historic centre. From central Old Town landmarks, it is a straightforward 5 to 10-minute walk along connecting streets and riverside paths.

A typical visit takes 15 to 30 minutes, which is enough time to stroll across, observe the river, and take photos from both banks.

When to Visit

Late afternoon and sunset provide pleasant light across the water. Warmer months from late spring to early autumn are ideal for walking, while winter crossings can be cold and windy. The pedestrian walkways rarely get overcrowded, though road traffic increases during morning and evening rush hours.
