Kyrenia lighthouse (1907)
Kyrenia Lighthouse
Built in 1907, this lighthouse is located at the end of the breakwater at the mouth of Kyrenia's old harbor. While it no longer serves its original navigational function, it remains a structural landmark of the port. Visitors go here to walk along the harbor wall and view the surrounding yachts and small boats.
Getting There
The lighthouse is located within the harbor area, which is adjacent to the city center. It is accessible via a short walk from the main town streets. Depending on your starting point in the center, it takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes to reach the harbor front.
Duration of Visit
Since the attraction is a landmark located on a walkway rather than a museum or interior site, most visitors spend between 20 and 40 minutes walking to the lighthouse and back.
When to Visit
The site is open to the air and exposed to the elements. Visiting during the early morning or late afternoon avoids the midday heat. The harbor area can become crowded during the peak summer tourist season.
Nearby Attractions
The lighthouse is centrally located for visiting other historical sites in the region. You can combine your visit with the following:
- Kyrenia Castle: 0.3km
- Saint Hilarion Castle: 4.9km
- Kyrenia Mountains: 5km
- Bellapais Abbey: 5.1km
