Path of Remembrance and Comradeship
Path of Remembrance and Comradeship
The Path of Remembrance and Comradeship is a 33-kilometer gravel trail that encircles the city of Ljubljana. It is used by visitors and locals for walking, cycling, and jogging. The route passes through various landscapes, including Koseze Pond and Golovec Hill, providing views of the city skyline from elevated points.
Getting There
The path is a loop that surrounds the city, meaning multiple access points are available. From the city centre, you can reach the nearest trailheads within a few minutes by foot or a short bike ride, depending on which section of the loop you intend to visit.
Time Requirement
Because the total length is 33 kilometers, most visitors do not complete the entire circuit in one trip. Depending on whether you are walking a short segment or cycling a larger portion, allow anywhere from one hour to a full day.
When to Visit
The trail is accessible year-round. Spring and autumn are generally suitable for walking due to moderate temperatures. Early morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid the midday sun. The path is widely used by residents, but it rarely feels overcrowded due to its length.
Nearby Attractions
If you start or end your journey near the city centre, you can combine the trail with visits to these nearby sites:
- Dragon Bridge (0.3km)
- Butchers' Bridge (0.4km)
- St. Peter's Parish Church (0.4km)
- Arch. Plečnik's Marketplace (0.4km)
