Overview

Mont Agel is a mountain straddling the border between France and Monaco. While the summit is on the French side, an elevation point at 161 meters on its slope marks the highest geographical point in Monaco. Travellers visit to experience walking trails and elevated viewpoints overlooking the Mediterranean coast.

Getting There

From central Monaco, driving up the mountain via roads crossing into France takes roughly 20 to 30 minutes. Hiking directly uphill from the coast along established footpaths is also possible and takes around 1.5 to 2 hours.

Time to Allow

Allow 1.5 to 3 hours for a visit. A brief stop by car requires under an hour, whereas hiking the upper trails takes longer.

When to Visit

Mornings and late afternoons offer the clearest visibility across the coast. Spring and autumn provide the most comfortable temperatures for walking outdoors. Midday summer heat can make exposed sections tiring. The area generally does not get heavily crowded.
