Għar Dalam
Għar Dalam is a 144-meter long cave located in southeastern Malta. It serves as a geological and paleontological site where fossils of prehistoric animals have been discovered. Visitors go here to walk through the cave and observe evidence of the island's ancient natural history.
Getting There
The site is located outside the main urban center of Mosta. To reach the cave from the city center, the most practical method is by taxi or rental car. The drive typically takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic conditions.
Duration of Visit
Most visitors spend between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours exploring the cave and the immediate surrounding area.
When to Visit
The cave provides a naturally cooler environment, making it a viable option during the hot summer months. To avoid the midday heat of the surrounding landscape, morning or late afternoon visits are recommended. It generally does not experience the same level of crowding as the primary tourist hubs in Valletta.
