Mount Guanyin

Located on the border of the Wugu and Bali districts in New Taipei City, this 616-meter mountain is a destination for hiking. Visitors go here to access a network of trails that provide views of the surrounding landscape and the nearby river basins.

Getting There

The mountain is accessible from central Taipei via a combination of the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) and local buses or taxis. Depending on the starting point in the city centre and the specific trailhead chosen, the journey typically takes between 45 and 90 minutes.

Time Allocation

Depending on the chosen trail and the hiker's pace, allow between 3 to 5 hours to complete a round trip. This accounts for the ascent, descent, and time spent at the summit.

When to Visit

The best time to visit is during the cooler months from October to March to avoid the high humidity and heat of the summer. Early morning starts are recommended to avoid midday sun. The trails can become crowded on weekends and public holidays.

Nearby Attractions

The location can be combined with other sites in the Bali and Tamsui areas. Nearby points of interest include:

  • Tamsui River (4.1km)
  • Guandu Temple (4.2km)
  • Fort Santo Domingo (4.4km)
