Ko Khrok
What it is
Ko Khrok is a small, largely undeveloped island off Pattaya, part of the same coastal group as Ko Sak and Ko Lan but far less visited. It's used mainly by locals and small tour boats rather than the mass day-trip crowds that head to Ko Lan, so the appeal is quiet coastline and clear water rather than facilities or attractions.
Getting there
There's no scheduled public ferry to Ko Khrok. The practical way to reach it is by chartering a longtail or speedboat from a Pattaya beach pier, or joining a private boat trip that includes it alongside other nearby islands. Depending on the departure point, the crossing typically takes somewhere in the range of 20–40 minutes.
How long to stay
Because there's little infrastructure, most visits are short — a couple of hours is usually enough to swim, snorkel, or walk a stretch of shoreline before moving on to the next stop on a multi-island trip.
When to go
Morning trips generally mean calmer seas and better underwater visibility. As with the rest of the Gulf of Thailand coast, the rainy season (roughly May to October) can bring choppy water and reduced visibility, so a boat trip is more reliable in the drier months. Given the lack of shade and facilities, avoid the middle of the day in the hottest months without sun protection.
Combining with nearby spots
- Ko Sak (2.2 km) — close enough to pair with Ko Khrok on the same boat charter.
- Ko Lan (3.3 km) — the area's main island, with more beaches, food stalls, and facilities if you want a fuller day out.
- Ocean 1 Tower (7.8 km) and All Saints church (10.1 km) are back on the mainland in Pattaya and better suited to a separate day, once you're off the water.
