Ko Sak
What it is
Ko Sak is a small island near Ko Lan, off the coast of Pattaya, valued mainly for its clear water and coral reef patches close to shore. It's not built up like the larger neighbouring islands — there's little infrastructure on land, and most visitors come specifically for snorkelling around the fringing reef rather than for beach lounging or facilities.
Getting there
There's no direct public ferry to Ko Sak. Visitors typically reach it by speedboat or longtail boat chartered from Pattaya's Bali Hai Pier, often as one stop on a multi-island snorkelling trip that also takes in Ko Khrok or Ko Lan. A direct speedboat crossing from Pattaya takes roughly 20–30 minutes.
Time to allow
An hour or two is usually enough to snorkel the reef area and take in the island. Most people visit as a stop within a longer half-day or full-day boat trip covering several islands, rather than as a standalone destination.
When to go
Morning crossings tend to give calmer water and better underwater visibility before afternoon wind picks up. Because access is boat-only and the island has minimal shelter, conditions can turn choppy later in the day, and rainy-season swells (roughly June to October) can make the crossing uncomfortable or reduce visibility for snorkelling.
Combining with other stops
Ko Sak sits close to two easy add-ons: Ko Khrok (2.2km) and Ko Lan (3.5km), both realistic to combine on the same boat charter since multi-island snorkelling routes commonly link all three. Ocean 1 Tower (9.8km) and All Saints church (10.9km) are back on the mainland in Pattaya and make more sense as a separate day, after returning from the islands.
