Qasr al-Bint

Qasr al-Bint is a free-standing Nabataean temple located in the center of Petra. Unlike many of the city's structures that were carved directly into the sandstone cliffs, this temple was constructed from masonry. Visitors go here to see one of the few remaining free-standing religious buildings from the Nabataean era, providing a perspective on the architectural techniques used for independent structures in the ancient city.

Getting There

The temple is located within the main archaeological park of Petra. From the visitor center and the main entrance, it requires a walk through the Siq and across the city center. The walk takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes depending on your pace and the route taken.

Visit Duration

Allow 30 to 60 minutes to walk around the exterior of the temple and observe the remaining walls and foundations.

When to Visit

Early morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid the midday heat. This area is a central part of the Petra circuit and becomes crowded during peak tourist hours, particularly between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
