Ridge Church

The Ridge Church is an ancient religious site located on a high ridge overlooking the city of Petra. Built between the 3rd and 4th centuries, the structure incorporates stone from the Nabataean and Roman eras. Visitors go here to see the remains of what is considered the oldest church in Petra and to view the surrounding city from an elevated vantage point.

Getting There

The site is located within the archaeological park of Petra. Access from the main city center involves walking through the valley and ascending the ridge. Depending on your starting point and pace, the hike to the ridge typically takes between 30 to 60 minutes.

Visit Duration

Allow approximately 45 to 90 minutes to explore the ruins and observe the views of the valley below.
