Temple of the Winged Lions

This site consists of the ruins of a large temple built during the Nabataean Kingdom. Located within the sacred quarter of Petra, it is a point of interest for those studying the architecture and religious history of the Nabataeans. The structure is positioned at the end of the Colonnaded Street, directly facing Qasr al-Bint.

Getting There

The temple is located within the main archaeological park of Petra. From the center of the site, visitors typically reach it by walking along the Colonnaded Street. The walking time varies depending on your starting point within the valley, but it is centrally located relative to other major ruins.

Visit Duration

Most visitors spend between 30 and 60 minutes exploring the ruins and observing the layout of the temple grounds.

When to Visit

Early morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid the midday heat. Like most major sites in Petra, this area becomes crowded during peak tourist seasons and mid-day hours.
