Arriving and Getting Around

San Miguel sits in eastern El Salvador, about 130 kilometers from El Salvador International Airport (SAL). The drive via the coastal or Pan-American highways takes two to three hours. Reliable transit options include private shuttles, car rentals, or intercity buses.

In town, transit relies on microbuses and taxis. Taxis do not use meters, so negotiate and agree on fares before boarding. Walking works well inside the central grid, but use taxis to travel between Centro and Avenida Roosevelt to avoid long walks in the heat.
