King Fahd Mosque

Located in the Alipašino Polje district, this Sunni mosque is the largest in Sarajevo and the Balkans. Funded by Saudi Arabia and named after King Fahd, it serves as a significant religious site and an example of modern Islamic architecture in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Travelers visit to observe the scale of the structure and the interior design.

Getting There

The mosque is situated outside the historic city center. You can reach it via local tram or bus lines heading toward Alipašino Polje. The journey typically takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic and the specific departure point in the center.

Visit Duration

Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to explore the grounds and the main prayer hall. This provides enough time to walk around the exterior and observe the interior architecture.

When to Visit

Visiting during the weekdays generally avoids the larger crowds that gather for Friday prayers. It is advisable to dress modestly when entering the premises. The site is accessible throughout the year, though weather conditions in Sarajevo can be severe during winter.
