Skakavac Waterfall

Located above the village of Nahorevo, this natural site features a waterfall that descends down a 98-meter limestone cliff. It is one of the tallest waterfalls in the Balkans. Visitors go here to see the cascade and the surrounding forest landscape.

Getting There

The waterfall is accessible from Sarajevo city centre via a combination of road transport to the Nahorevo area and a subsequent hike. Depending on the mode of transport and the hiking pace, the journey typically takes between 1 to 2 hours each way.

Time Allocation

Allow approximately 3 to 5 hours for the visit. This includes the time required to hike from the trailhead to the base of the falls and the return trip.

When to Visit

The site is accessible throughout the year, though the experience varies by season. In winter, the waterfall freezes, creating a different visual scene. To avoid crowds, visit on weekdays rather than weekends. Morning visits are recommended to ensure sufficient daylight for the hike back.
