Gyeonghuigung Palace

Built in 1617 during the Joseon dynasty, this site served as a secondary palace where ten generations of kings conducted state affairs. Known as Seogwol (West Palace), it is one of the five grand palaces of Seoul. Travelers visit this location to see the architecture of the royal court in a setting that is generally less crowded than the primary palaces.

The palace is located in the central district of Seoul. From the city center, it is accessible via the Seoul subway system or local buses. Depending on your starting point in the center, the journey typically takes 15 to 30 minutes.

Most visitors spend between 1 and 2 hours exploring the grounds and the remaining royal structures.

When to Visit

The grounds are open during the day. Spring and autumn are recommended for the foliage. Unlike the larger palaces in the city, this site rarely experiences heavy crowds, making it a quieter option for sightseeing.
