Banteay Kdei

Banteay Kdei is a Buddhist temple located within the Angkor archaeological park in Siem Reap. Built in the Bayon style during the reign of Jayavarman VII in the 12th–13th centuries, it consists of a series of enclosures and galleries. Travelers visit this site to see the architectural style of the period and to experience a quieter environment compared to the larger central temples.

Getting There

The temple is located several kilometers from Siem Reap city centre. Most visitors reach the site via tuk-tuk or rented motorbike. The journey typically takes 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic and the specific starting point in the city.

Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to walk through the temple grounds and explore the galleries and courtyards.

When to Visit

Visiting in the early morning or late afternoon helps avoid the midday heat. While it is less crowded than Angkor Wat, it can still see an increase in visitors during the peak dry season. To avoid the largest tour groups, arriving early is recommended.
