What It Is

Prasat Kravan is a 10th-century temple dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu in 921. Situated south of the main Angkor ruins near Srah Srang, the complex consists of five red brick towers arranged in a row on a single terrace. Travelers visit to see the brick masonry and the interior bas-relief carvings of Vishnu sculpted directly into the brick walls.

Getting There

The site is located about 12 kilometers north of downtown Siem Reap. Traveling by tuk-tuk or car from the city center takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes along the primary route leading toward the central archaeological area.

Time to Allow

Plan to spend 20 to 30 minutes on site. The grounds are compact, giving sufficient time to walk around the five towers and step inside the central sanctuaries to view the carvings.

When to Visit

Morning is the best time to visit because the east-facing doorways let in direct sunlight that illuminates the interior wall reliefs. The temple rarely gets heavy crowds, though tour groups make brief stops during the morning. The dry season from November to April offers the easiest walking conditions.
