Roman Agora of Thessaloniki
The Roman Agora is an archaeological site containing the ruins of an ancient Roman forum. Located in the center of Thessaloniki, it allows visitors to see the remains of the civic center of the city from the Roman period, including foundations of public buildings and colonnades.
Getting There
The site is situated directly above Aristotelous Square. Because it is located in the heart of the city center, it is accessible by foot from most central hotels and main pedestrian streets. The walk from the square takes only a few minutes.
Visit Duration
Most visitors spend between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours exploring the ruins and reading the informational signage provided on-site.
When to Visit
The site is outdoors, so visiting during the spring or autumn is preferable to avoid the extreme heat of the Greek summer. Early morning or late afternoon visits provide more comfortable temperatures. Like many central landmarks, it can get crowded during peak tourist seasons.
