What It Is

Rotspitz is a mountain peak rising to 2,127 meters in the Rätikon range along the border between Liechtenstein and Switzerland. Travellers visit the summit for alpine hiking and ridge walking, with direct views over the surrounding Rhine Valley and neighbouring peaks.

Getting There

From central Vaduz, take a local bus or drive toward trailheads in the upper valley near Triesen or Steg, then follow marked mountain paths to the ridge. Reaching the peak from Vaduz typically takes between 3 and 4 hours in total.

Time to Allow

Allow 4 to 6 hours for the round-trip hike. This provides adequate time to ascend, spend time along the ridge, and descend safely.

When to Go

The standard hiking season runs from late June to October when trails are free of snow. An early morning start helps avoid afternoon storms and heat. Crowds are generally low to moderate on summer weekends and minimal on weekdays. Avoid hiking during heavy rain, fog, or icy conditions.

Nearby Attractions

The peak can be linked with several nearby points along the ridge network:

  • Lawena (1.1 km)
  • Mazorakopf (1.1 km)
  • Falknis (1.2 km)
  • Mittlerspitz (1.2 km)
