The Cottonera Lines are a series of massive fortifications constructed during the 17th and 18th centuries to protect the Three Cities area, specifically Cospicua and Birgu. Visitors go here to walk along the historic ramparts and observe the layout of the defense system and the surrounding harbor views.
Getting There
From the center of Valletta, you can reach the fortifications via a short taxi ride or by taking a local bus toward the Three Cities. The journey typically takes about 10 to 15 minutes depending on traffic.

Allow approximately 2 to 3 hours to walk along the walls and explore the perimeter of the fortifications.
When to Visit
The best time to visit is during the morning or late afternoon to avoid the midday heat, as the stone walls provide little shade. Spring and autumn are the most temperate seasons. The site is generally less crowded than the main tourist hubs of Valletta.
