Tarxien Temples

The Tarxien Temples are the ruins of stone structures built around 3000 BC. They are among the oldest stone temple remains in the Mediterranean region. Visitors go here to see the megalithic architecture and artifacts left behind by an ancient civilization.

Getting There

The site is located a short distance from the center of Valletta. You can reach the temples via local bus or taxi. The journey typically takes about 10 to 15 minutes depending on traffic conditions.

Visit Duration

Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to walk through the ruins and view the layout of the temple complex.

When to Visit

Visiting during the early morning or late afternoon helps avoid the midday heat, as much of the site is outdoors. The temples can get crowded during the peak summer tourist season. To avoid the largest groups, consider visiting during the shoulder seasons of spring or autumn.
