Archaeological Museum of Milan
밀라노 시립 고고학 박물관(이탈리아어: Civico Museo Archeologico di Milano)은 이탈리아 밀라노의 고고학 박물관이다. 옛 산 마우리치오 알 모나스테로 마조레 교회와 나란히 있는 마조레 수도원에 위치해 있으며, 마젠타로 에 입구를 두고 있다.
What it is
The Archaeological Museum of Milan holds the city's collection of Roman, Greek, and Etruscan artifacts, along with material from Milan's own Roman-era past, when the city was known as Mediolanum. The museum occupies the former Monastero Maggiore, and part of the appeal is the setting itself: exhibition rooms built into a medieval convent, with a tower and surviving stretches of Roman wall visible in the grounds. It suits travelers interested in Milan's pre-medieval history rather than its better-known Renaissance and design heritage.
Getting there
The museum sits on Corso Magenta, close to the city centre. From the Duomo, it's roughly a 15-20 minute walk, or a short ride on the metro (M1, Cadorna or Conciliazione stops) followed by a few minutes on foot. Trams also run along nearby streets. If arriving from Malpensa (MXP) or Linate (LIN) airport, plan to reach the centre first, then continue by metro or on foot.
Time to allow
Most visitors spend around one to one and a half hours here, enough to see the main collection and the adjoining church without rushing.
When to go
This is a smaller, less-visited museum compared to Milan's major sights, so queues are generally not a concern. Weekday mornings tend to be quietest if you prefer fewer other visitors in the rooms.
Nearby
The museum shares its site with San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore, an adjoining church worth stepping into given it's right there. From here it's a short walk to Teatro dal Verme (0.3km) and the Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio (0.4km), and Santa Maria delle Grazie (0.6km) is also within easy walking distance, making this a convenient area to combine several stops in one outing.
