Republic Plaza
Republic Plaza is a skyscraper in the Downtown Core, one of the taller buildings in Singapore's financial district. It's made up of two connected towers on a shared podium: a 66-storey main tower and a shorter 23-storey second tower, with a three-floor retail podium at the base. Most visitors come simply to see the building as part of the skyline and streetscape of Raffles Place rather than for any dedicated viewing deck or attraction inside the tower itself, since it functions primarily as an office building.
Getting there
From the city centre (e.g. Orchard Road), it's about a 15-20 minute ride by taxi or MRT. Raffles Place MRT station sits right at its doorstep, making it one of the easiest landmarks in the district to reach on foot from the surrounding office towers and riverside area.
How much time to allow
As an exterior landmark and passage point through the retail podium, 15-30 minutes is enough for most travellers, unless you're stopping to eat or shop in the podium's retail area.
When to go
Weekday lunch hours and the morning/evening commute see heavy foot traffic from office workers, so the plaza and surrounding streets can feel crowded then. Weekends are quieter, since the area is primarily a business district.
Combine with
- One Raffles Place (0.2km) - another Raffles Place landmark, an easy add-on
- Thian Hock Keng (0.4km) - a short walk for a change of pace from the financial district
- Asian Civilisations Museum (0.5km) - worth a stop if heading toward the riverside
- Marina Bay (0.6km) - walkable to round out a stroll through the downtown core
