Museum Rudana
Museum Rudana is an art museum in Peliatan, near Ubud, holding a collection of Balinese and Indonesian paintings and sculpture. It was established by Nyoman Rudana around the local philosophy of Tri Hita Karana, which frames art as something that should serve public wellbeing rather than sit apart from it. It suits travellers who want to see Balinese art in a gallery setting rather than in the open-air studios and craft shops more common around Ubud.
Getting there
Peliatan sits just southeast of central Ubud, so the museum is a short trip from town, generally around 10-15 minutes by car or scooter depending on traffic. There's no public bus network to rely on, so most visitors arrive by private driver, taxi, or rented scooter. From 응우라라이 국제공항(DPS), allow roughly an hour by car, more if traffic through Denpasar and Sukawati is heavy.

When to go
Mornings tend to be quieter and cooler for walking between the museum's buildings. It's a less-visited stop than the big Ubud attractions, so heavy crowds aren't typically a concern, but it's still worth avoiding the middle of the day when heat and tour traffic on the surrounding roads both pick up.
