KV14: The Tomb of Twosret and Setnakhte

KV14 is an ancient Egyptian tomb located in the Valley of the Kings. Originally constructed for Queen Twosret of the 19th Dynasty, the site is historically significant because it was later expanded and repurposed as the burial place for Pharaoh Setnakhte. Visitors go here to see the architectural modifications made during this transition and the remaining wall decorations.

Getting There

The tomb is located on the West Bank of Luxor. From the city centre, you must cross the Nile via ferry or bridge and then travel by taxi or hired vehicle to the Valley of the Kings. The journey typically takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic and the crossing method.

Visit Duration

Allow approximately 30 to 60 minutes to explore the interior of the tomb and observe the inscriptions.

Timing and Crowds

The Valley of the Kings is an open-air desert environment that becomes extremely hot during the summer months; visiting during the winter or early morning is recommended. The area is a major tourist hub and frequently gets crowded, particularly mid-day when tour groups arrive.
