KV47: The Tomb of Pharaoh Siptah

KV47 is an ancient Egyptian royal tomb located in the Valley of the Kings. It served as the burial place for Pharaoh Siptah and was excavated in 1905. Visitors go here to observe the architectural layout and wall decorations that provide evidence of the burial customs used during the New Kingdom period.

Getting There

The site is located on the West Bank of the Nile. From Luxor city centre, travellers typically cross the river via ferry or bridge and take a taxi or shuttle to the Valley of the Kings entrance. The journey generally takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic and the crossing method.

Visit Duration

Allow approximately 30 to 60 minutes to explore the interior of the tomb and its corridors.

Planning Your Visit

To avoid the highest temperatures, visit in the early morning. The winter months are the most temperate for exploring the valley. This area of the necropolis can become crowded during peak tourist seasons, particularly mid-day when large tour groups arrive.
